Verlyn Klinkenborg (born 1952 in Meeker, Colorado) is an American non-fiction author and newspaper editor. ==Early life==
Klinkenborg was raised on an Iowa farm belonging to his family.〔()〕 He attended elementary school in Clarion, Iowa until the 6th grade at which time the family moved to Osage, Iowa.〔Verlyn Klinkenborg, "Editorial Notebook; Memory, Musical Desire and the Beatles," New York Times, October 15, 2000 |URL=http://www.nytimes.com/2000/10/15/opinion/editorial-notebook-memory-musical-desire-and-the-beatles.html〕 He graduated from Pomona College, and holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University. Klinkenborg taught literature and creative writing at Fordham University while living in the Bronx in the early to mid-1980s, and later at St. Olaf College, Bennington College, Sarah Lawrence College, Bard College, and Harvard University. In 1991 he received the Lila Wallace–Reader's Digest Writer's Award and a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship. He currently teaches creative writing at Yale University and lives on a small farm in upstate New York.〔
